Resilience, growth, and continued commitment.

2025 Executive Director's Annual Report

At Menchville House Ministries, 2025 was a year defined by resilience, growth, and continued commitment to families experiencing homelessness across the Virginia Peninsula. Despite major operational challenges, our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners worked together to ensure that families continued receiving safe shelter, compassionate support, and pathways toward long-term stability.

Guided by our promise to be a place of hope and a path to home, Menchville House continued strengthening programs, expanding partnerships, and improving the systems that support both our residents and our future sustainability.

Strengthening Our Facility and Operations

This year brought significant infrastructure challenges, including major plumbing-related repairs that temporarily impacted portions of our facility. Even during this difficult period, Menchville House remained focused on maintaining a safe, stable, and welcoming environment for the families we serve.

  • Installation of a comprehensive security camera system providing enhanced safety and coverage throughout the property.
  • Modernization of financial systems through a transition to QuickBooks Online.
  • Improved financial reporting and audit readiness through new bookkeeping partnerships and streamlined procedures.
  • Continued strengthening of data and reporting practices through statewide HMIS participation and compliance efforts.
  • Ongoing staff cross-training and operational restructuring to improve resident engagement and case management efficiency.

Investing in Families Through Community Support

The generosity of our community made an extraordinary impact in 2025. Menchville House secured and maintained funding from numerous local and regional partners to support housing assistance, family services, case management, and operational needs. These resources helped families transition into permanent housing and strengthened supportive programming for children and parents alike.

  • Give Local 757 generated our strongest fundraising campaign to date.
  • Faith communities, civic groups, businesses, and volunteers provided meals, household supplies, educational support, and hands-on service throughout the year.
  • New partnerships expanded opportunities for financial literacy education, community programming, and resident enrichment.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

Menchville House remained actively involved in regional conversations surrounding homelessness prevention, housing stability, and family support services. Throughout the year, our organization participated in advocacy events, collaborative initiatives, educational webinars, and public awareness campaigns focused on addressing homelessness and strengthening community response efforts.

Resident Services and Impact

At the heart of Menchville House is the work being done every day with families in crisis. In 2025, Menchville House continued serving dozens of adults and children each month through emergency shelter, case management, housing navigation, and supportive programming.

Families participated in empowerment groups, educational opportunities, life-skills development, and community-building events designed to support long-term success and stability. The dedication of our staff and residents resulted in strong outcomes, with many families successfully transitioning into permanent housing and taking important steps toward self-sufficiency.

Looking Ahead to 2026

  • Expanding support services for children and families.
  • Strengthening financial sustainability and operational readiness.
  • Completing facility restoration and additional safety improvements.
  • Increasing community engagement and volunteer involvement.
  • Continuing staff development and organizational growth.
  • Preparing for future federal funding opportunities that can expand regional impact.

Closing

The work of Menchville House Ministries would not be possible without the compassion and support of our staff, volunteers, donors, faith communities, partners, and advocates across the Virginia Peninsula.

Together, we are creating opportunities for families to move beyond crisis and toward lasting stability, hope, and home.
