Communications Manager Job Description

The Communications Manager will oversee all internal and external messaging and communication within Menchville House. Development of an annual campaign to engage targeted donor audiences. Creating and implementing engrossing communications strategies and plans. Creating engaging media content that accurately represents the organization’s brand. Also, managing the distribution of that content to a variety of audiences across an array of platforms. Then collecting and analyzing engagement statistics to understand the positive outcomes and areas to improve on. This person will update and publish marketing materials and plan for the Giving Season and the giving events in advance of the season and events. The ideal candidate will have aesthetic instincts for digital layouts and a strong eye for detail; a strong understanding of major social media platforms’ (Instagram and Facebook) tools and distinct uses, and distinct target audiences; and a passion for digital strategy, results, and analytics. Acting as the direct communications contact for all outside press and media outlets. Maintaining a relationship and database of local media contacts. Creating media/press releases and packages that showcase the identity and impact of our organization for distribution to the media contact database. Create digital content such as graphics, videos, and photos for promotional purposes. This position will also require some marketing and administrative duties.

Required Duties:

  • Creating and implementing engrossing communications and marketing strategies and plans.
  • Creating engaging media content that accurately represents the organization’s brand.
  • Managing the distribution of that content to a variety of audiences across an array of platforms.
  • Collecting and analyzing engagement statistics to understand the positive outcomes and areas to improve on.
  • Act as a bridge between the Board of Directors and Menchville House staff to ensure all branches of Menchville House understand objectives, goals, and marketing strategies.
  • Serve as the direct communications contact for all outside press and media outlets.
  • Maintaining a relationship and database of local media contacts.
  • Creating media/press releases and packages that showcase the identity and impact of our organization for distribution to the media contact database.
  • Maintain marketing materials necessary for giving campaigns and communications contacts.

Required Skills:

  • Comfortable with Facebook, Instagram, and a strong understanding of writing and creating different posts for each platform. Understanding of the target demographic for each unique platform.
  • Familiarity and comfort with Google Doc and Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral, written, and digital communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flex hours may be negotiated, but some in person hours will be required.
